Extinction Review

Extinction PS4 Review
Cornball Ogres - 1.6/5
Developed by Iron Galaxy and published by Maximum Games, Extinction is an action adventure game that sees you assume the role of a warrior named Avil as he fights interdimensional 150-foot tall monsters.
Known as “one of the world’s last defenders” one would think to play as Avil as he defends humanity against these massive brutes would invoke some excitement. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case, and not only is Extinction void of any real zest, it isn’t even remotely enjoyable. Plus, since Extinction is currently retailing at a mind-boggling $99.95, the same price as a Triple-A title; somebody, somewhere, is taking the piss.

Devil May Cry HD Collection Review - A unique series worth revisiting

Devil May Cry HD Collection Review
Value for money - 7.5 / 10
Created in 2001, Devil May Cry has somewhat of an interesting development story. Initially thought of as a Resident Evil title, it didn't take long for director Hideki Kamiya to realise that the fixed camera view synonymous with past Resident Evil games didn't suit his upcoming hack and slash project.

After lengthy discussions that culminated in a brief visit to Europe; it's there where Kamiya and his team photographed ancient buildings and statues. On his return home and armed with these new compositions, Kamiya tried to combine gothic stylistics and fast-paced gameplay mechanics into what was supposedly still a Resident Evil game.

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires Review

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires Review
Samurai Warriors 4: Empires is a missed opportunity - 2.5/5
Set during the Sengoku period - between the 16th and 17th century, Samurai Warriors 4: Empires is the third instalment in the Empires series and the follow-up to Samurai Warriors 4-II.

Now, unless you're familiar with the Samurai and Dynasty Warriors franchise, you may struggle to understand what the Empires edition is all about. Quite simply, Samurai Warriors 4: Empires primarily focuses on you joining a faction while implementing different kinds of policies, strategies, and tactics before battle as you look to take control of all territories on the map.

Empires' story is sparse in comparison to its predecessors; it's all about building your faction as you fight to gain control of the land. Much like the entire Samurai and Dynasty Warriors franchise, those of a tactical and strategic persuasion will love the Empires edition whereas those looking for in-depth storytelling will prefer the original titles.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance PS3 Review

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance PS3 Review
Raiden has changed slightly... Metal Gear Rising PS3 review
It’s Metal Gear. But not as we know it.
The ninth entry in the Metal Gear saga Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, sees stealth, sneaking, and strategic gameplay replaced by lightning quick, hack and slash, blade swinging action mayhem. And the best thing about this new style of Metal Gear is that it works. It works very well.
The Metal Gear franchise now in its 26th year, starting way back in 1987 with the self-titled Metal Gear for the MSX2. Hideo Kojima’s stealth action-adventure franchise has amassed an impressive $45 million in sales worldwide, won numerous awards and received universal critical acclaim. Much of the Metal Gear series focuses on main protagonist Solid Snake, as he carefully sneaks his way through each adrenaline-fueled adventure. In the latest MGS instalment, you play the cyborg ninja Raiden who first appeared in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty on the PlayStation 2.
